ABOUT

I hope this page brings some light to who I am and why I created Do You Mind.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Kate, the clinician behind Do You Mind.

I'm an Illawarra local and a registered psychologist who ventured out into private practice after spending a few years supporting families in the not-for-profit sector. I work with all ages and varied presenting concerns, but my focus area has always aligned closely with supporting neurodevelopmental kiddos and their parents. My clinical approach is relaxed and I always aim to meet my client's where they're at.

Clinician behind Do You Mind

When I'm not in sessions, you’ll usually find me somewhere sunny, by the
water, with my cats (Milo & Leo), or in the pottery studio being humbled
by how hard it is to shape mud into a cup (so difficult!)

ABOUT DO YOU MIND

Supporting parents to support their kids.

My approach at Do You Mind is all about finding evidenced based, unique, and (actually) useful tools to help families thrive, especially families whose kids don’t always fit the typical advice. Over time, I’ve seen that when parents are actively supported to understand the skills I'm teaching, their kids make bigger gains. Which makes sense, right! Clinicians might see a child for an hour or so each fortnight, but parents are with them 24/7, which is why helping parents understand the 'why' behind their kids behaviour (and misbehaviour) is such a key part of the work. If we want to provide clinical support to young people, parenting support is the foundation, not an add-on. Everything I do is delivered via telehealth, so you can access sessions from home, the office, or anywhere in between. My hope is that this makes it easier to fit sessions around your family’s busy schedule.

My specialty is making support practical, approachable, and relatable, so you can survive the day without bribery, threats, or excessive coffee (well, maybe still some coffee - I'm not a magician).

ABOUT YOU

Here's what you can expect

Maybe you’re here because your child has recently received an ASD or ADHD diagnosis, is struggling with anxiety, meltdowns, sleep difficulties, or school and social challenges (or all of the above + more). When you work with me, you can expect clear, evidence based, practical guidance that fits into your daily life. We’ll non-judgmentally reflect on how your family ended up here, focus on the real challenges you face with your child, and come up with strategies you can try right away. If I don't have the answer, I'll point you in the right direction. Sessions are collaborative, giving you space to share what’s working, what’s not, and what feels most important for your family.

This is your space to show up exactly as you are: mess, kids screaming in the background, tears, or triumphs - without needing to have it all together. My goal is to meet you where you’re at and work with you from there, just as you are.
